Just a few weeks ago, I presented a workshop in Boston, along side two wonderful nonprofit experts, Kathleen Cummings and Priscilla Deck.
The workshop was organized by the Center for Nonprofit Success and the room was filled with representatives from nonprofits from the greater Boston area, who either were Executive Director, the sole Development Director or on the board of their organization.
Our interactive session focused on budgeting, annual fund, grant writing, events, major gifts (or Leadership gifts as Kathleen prefers to call them), how to write your mission, vision and identify measurable needs and outcomes, working with volunteers, and also touched on database systems and resources for nonprofits, especially for those with limited budgets.
Here is a copy of my presentation, which was mainly focused on the Annual Fund.
The CFNPS offers many great courses for nonprofits at different levels and it does have some great volunteer opportunities as well.
I love working with small nonprofits as they’re so passionate about their cause and their fundraising typically has no other way but to go up! We had many lively discussions and everybody came away with some great practical tips ready to implement the next day!
